Malaria in Laos?

    We are bussing up to Laos from Cambodia. We'll be working our way south to north in Laos. What's the malaria situation and should we be taking malaria pills throughout? Thanks!

    Yes there is malaria. No you should not worry about it and not take malaria prophylactics unless you are on an extended trek in the jungle. Dengue fever is more prevalent and there is nothing you can do about that except cover up and use deet.
