Has anyone done the Gibbon Experience with kids? We are travelling with our 9 & 7 year old girls. They are very adventurous and really like the idea of zipping around the treetops but I am interested to hear from anyone else who may have been there with their children.
Thanks,
Gabby

Hi Gabby
I'm pretty sure you have to be 18+. Our daughter was only 16 but she is taller than most Lao's and she is pretty mature, and they didn't actually ask how old she was. The guides (only in their late teens and early 20's themselves - were interested in how she was and whether she had a boyfriend). To answer your question it's really not suitable for children, it's hard work and you are very high up therefore the safety factor is so important. I don't think kids that age would be able to get their head around the necessary procedures especially when excited.
Kind regards
Marian

Thanks Marian,
I have been in contact with the Gibbon Experience and they have said they are happy with children over 6! I am slightly concerned about the height of the lines and the agility of the kids but they are happy to take them tandem if necessary. If we make it there I will let you know how they go.
BW,
Gabby

We did the Classic Gibbon Experience with our 9 and 6 year old daughters from 30 March - 1 April and they LOVED it! The guides were brilliant and took them in tandem until we were confident enough to do so. They struggled with the food a little so lived on a diet of rice and fruit but other than that had no problems. They didn't even seem bothered by the tree living insects (no mosquitos but plenty of other life!). If your children have a sense of adventure this is definitely an experience for them. We have uploaded a brief video clip on ot our website http://www.braceyfamilytravels.com/Video_gallery if you want to get an idea of the zip line experience. The girls have also written a blog on our time there.

Prices vary dependign on the tour you're opting for. Contact them via their website here: http://www.gibbonx.org/gibbon_contact.php and they should be able to supply pricing details.

I guess i worded the question wrong i know what it is, but how did everyone enjoy it? How far is it from Luang Prabang? What is the cost? How are the accommodations? What do you recommend?
