My girlfriend and I are going tubing sometime in the next few weeks. (no dates yet) Things like this are always best experienced in groups, so if you wanna get together, be stupid and float down the river drop us an email - elyobj@gmail.com

We're both lovely people, and we're both happy to throw our keys in a bowl and go with the flow.. (at least i am)
It can still be a blast, but keep minimal on the booze and stick together, watch each other's backsides. Serious injury is a daily event, and people die from getting too drunk, drink spiking, diving into rocks, the death slide, etc. Loads of broken noses, cracked ribs, perforated eardrums, etc. etc. Take care.
MadMac is (sometimes) a flashpoint here on travelfish. Sure to stir controversy.
The others are just giving you the usual 'take care' warnings and advice. Lots of people have died - and it's kinda a stupid way to go really. Have fun - but don't get obnoxiously drunk and put your life in danger.

Hell, I've fractured vertebrae, broken a number of ribs, rightl leg and worse of all right ring finger (because the quack didn't reset it right) so by definition above I must be stupid but I survived as most do. I'd say stupid isn't the problem-a life jacket is probably all it takes to give yourself a good chance of survival.
BTW rowing across the Atlantic,HALO, diving are all dangerous. It's in the human gene to push the envelope otherwise we 'd still be living in trees.

See if you can set up a blog and post pitcures of hot western chicks tubing topless! That would be cool.

Tubing, drinking, & being "stupid" is a formula for disaster. Record number of deaths on the river at Vang Vieng last year.
Tubing in Vang Vieng area - a warning

I've broken my nose three times. Cracked my ribs once (that sucked). Broke my arm... doesn't sound so bad. Never died though. That might suck a lot.

I agree with Mac. The river is very high and very fast at the moment. Dying sucks!

'Dying sucks!'

How do you know?
Also I doubt whether Madmac would shun danger, just doesn't seem in his personality
