Am wanting to travel from Don Khong down the Mekong to Kratie in Cambodia? Is this possible or is it better to go by road? Any info would be welcome. Thanks.

possible? maybe-god+authorities willing-and of course, needless to say (I hope) ONLY after/down of the falls/rapids- IF you can find a willing boatman, can agree to a )likely very high) rental price etc.Yes, the normal way is by road.
There's no valid border crossing by river so you would need to go by road and cross the land border first, then negotiate a short ride to the river and a private boat to Kratie. The guys will be washing their hands with invisible soap when you ask ($$$!) Unfortunately most river transport options are becoming extinct due to improved road conditions.
