Hy everybody
This summer I will go with some friend to Bangkok and from there we would like to go to Laos. We have no so much time, so we would like to go directly to Luang Prabang, I think that there's a flight with Bangkok Airways from Bangkok. Is it possible to get visa from Bangkok? How much? In Laos we'll have about 10 days to spend, where is better to go from Luang Prabang? What is better to do: treking, rafting, visit some city....
Yes you can fly direct from Bangkok to Luang Prabang, and yes, you can get a Lao visa in Bangkok -- the price varies depending on your nationality. You can see the full Lao visa pricelist here.
Places to go -- take a look at Muang Ngoi and Nong Kiaow -- both north of Luang Prabang -- good stuff!
If you don't have much time, you might choose to just get a visa on arrival at the airport at Luang Prabang. It will be in the $30 to $35 range per person (best to have it on hand in US cash), and will be valid for about two weeks. The potential extra cost might be worth the time and effort you save in Bangkok, as the Lao Embassy is not conveniently located.
While in Luang Prabang, I'd recommend taking a river boat up to the Pak Ou caves, and also making a side trip to the Khouang Sy waterfalls. Both are excellent, and the journey itself is worth the cost. Cheers.

Sabaydee Diego, BKK Airways is the best choice, from 3 flight coupons 80 USD for international flights, 50 USD for domestic flights, you can book on line, from March you can apply for a fregeunt flyer card - and you will get additional discount! Recommandation to go to Muang Ngoi - perfect - yes, just do it, it is something special! Peace & Light ! Peter, Vienna, Austria
