I'm flying from Bangkok to Chiang Rai on December 4th. I then want to head to Chiang Khong to cross the border into Loas. I was wondering what the cost might be to take a taxi from Chiang Rai airport to the Chiang Khong.
I'm posting this under Laos as I figure most people going this wasy are going to enter Laos.
I realize I can take a bus as well and the cost will be less. However since there are 2 of us, I figured the additional cost for taking 1 mode of transportation instead of 3 1) airport to bus station, 2) bus to Chiang Khong bus station and 3) tuk tuk to border might be worth it.

A friend did that just last week (though she was going in the opposite direction), and said she paid 1,500B for the trip.
Hope that helps.

Ouch! 1,500 baht. That's an awful lot of money. I'm guessing that is something like three to five times as much as taking public transportation would cost. That would buy quite a few bottles of Beer Lao once you get across the border :-)

The bus only costs 57B each plus 30B for the tuktuk - oodles of bottles of BeerLao.
