among the waterfalls to visit on the Bolaven Plateau there's also the Paxuam or Pasuam Waterfall, not so much visited by western tourits but definitely different from the others!
we arrived around lunchtime. they have a small menu but the food is good and the setting is fabulous!
we met the owners (Mr. Wimol Kijbamrung and his wife), from Thailand, who were more than eager to tell us their story: the project started in 1999, they have cleaned the area (with local labour) and used the driftwood for the construction of the restaurant, restrooms(with particular attention to environmental impact),'bungalows' for the guests, and last but not least the minority village. more or less 5000 trees were planted on the site. they have aprox. 85 people (from minority groups) working there and offer them and their family a decent way of life. we were overwhelmed by the enormity of the project. it's definitely a place to visit, even for a couple of days (the small 'bungalows' are build in the style of the ethnic houses), if you are interested in this kind of place and work. we hope to visit them again!
we wish them all the best and a good life!
