Hi all

I have heard that it is possilbe to use a European electrical adapter in Laos and Cambodia. Is this correct? I have an 'Australian to European' adapter 250vAC with two cylindrical plugs. Otherwise what should I get? Is there a general Asian adapter? I am going to Thailand also. Any help is much appreciated.

cheers

The two-pin ("European") plug is generally used in most places in Cambodia and Laos. It can often be a bit tricky to make any kind of plug to fit securely in the sockets though.

Hey lother

thanks for the advice. I don't suppose you or anyone else knows if it's the same in Thailand.

thanks so much

The situation is pretty much the same for Thailand. At least I've never had problems with the same plugs there either.

The two-prong adaptors have worked for me in Laos. Sometimes the Lao outlets can be worn, so I've been taking a small roll of electrical tape to tape the plug and adaptor to the outlet -- to prevent the plug from falling out when I'm recharge my camera battery, for example.
