Finally managed to get visa for China. Travel agents in Hanoi - Vietnam were not able to help and we nearly gave up on the whole idea. The China embassy in Hanoi was not overly helpful either.
In Laos the process is much easier. After hunting around in Luang Prabang we were recommended
http://www.treasuretravellaos.com they were great able to organize everything for us at a modest price, would highly recommend them.
Ps. I also have been told the China visa is easy to get in Thailand.

anyone know if its easy/easier to get a china visa in hong kong.Do you have to show hotel booking arrangements and return flight details like you do to get a visa in the uk?
