What is there to do in Phonsavan other than visiting the plain of jars?
I also read on www.passplanet.com there is a bus to luang prabang that stops in Nong Khiaw, is this true? how often do they run?
Have you looked at the Phonsavan section of the site? There's a few other activities listed there, though I'd say the Plain of Jars is the key attraction.
Re your bus question, Luang Prabang is between Phonsavan and Nong Khiaw -- as far as I know you have to go through LP to reach there...

There isn't much else to do...The jars are good but the journey there and the locals not too nice a bloke tried to feel up my boyf twice!!!
