The south of laos is one of our favourite areas of the country -- it is a very low-key destination compared to the north -- no big mountains or overly stunning scenery, but it is relaxing, less touristed and very friendly.
By far the highlight is Si Phan Don (Four Thousand Islands), particularly the islands of Don Khon and Don Dhet.

Hi; I am going to enter laos from the north and tour around starting from Muang Sing. Eventually making my way south to Vientiane.
I was wondering if I should get a month visa and continue making my way south and check out southern Laos. If so where should I go??
I am also looking for any tips on places I should check out, when I travel from North to South.
Any advice greatly appreciated, THANKS!!

Other good spots include Champassak, Pakse and Savannakhet.
