Any tips on getting to above . Has anyone ever flown to Luang Namtha from LP or is it best to overland? I notice an airport there on the map . Also I take it that the Gibbon Experience are very difficult to contact , as several emails have gone unanswered . Any ideas ?? Thanks

There's no direct flights from LNT to Luang Prabang that I know of. I've flown LNT to Vientiane, but that was a long time ago -- and I've heard (unconfirmed) reports that no flights are running out of LNT anymore. If you're overlanding, it's a long bus trip from Luang Prabang to LNT via Udomxai -- I'd suggest breaking up the trip if you can. Another option is boat north to Huay Xai and then head to Gibbon Experience from there.
There's frequent comments about Gibbon Experience being slow to respond -- what email address are you using?

Thanks somtam . Your contributions to this site are wonderful .
The email address for the gibbon experience was jf@clemstecs.net . We are actually thinking of the boat trip as it seems the boats going upriver might be quite as crowded as the ones going the other way . We are also toying with the idea of taking the luxury boat as out little "splash out" of the trip. Do you ( or others) think that it is worth it, given that we Aussies are getting a flogging with our dollar at the moment ?
