Hello!
I'm flying into bangkok on the 13th of July and plan to go to laos for 3 weeks. I'd like to take in the north and south ... would this be possible? What would the weather be like?
Any ideas for itineraries would be much appreciated!
Cheers
Angela

Hi Angela,
Welcome to Travelfish!
Have you taken a look at the trip planner section? There's a couple of sample Laos trips in there... though I've just realised I haven't done one for the whole country yet --what was I thinking!
Anyways, till I get aorund to it, you may be able to cobble some ideas together from the above links.

Somtam2000!
Thank you for your reply. I did look at the various trips you've outlined but I realise I won't have time to do all of what you suggest in both trips. What is on my hitlist?? What mustn't I miss? I am rather adventurous and have plenty energy but I am going to meet my mum (who is also v.young at heart) and we'd like to spend quality time together.
Any suggestions?!
Cheers
Angela

Hi Angela,
If I was talking my Mum to Laos, I wouldn't miss the following (bear in mind I'd lean towards seeing less and spending more time in each place, as mum doesn't doesn't consider bumpy roads to be quality time !) ;-)
enter overland at Huay Xai
Huay Xai -- one night, then slow boat down to
Pakbeng -- one night, then slow boat down to
Luang Prabang -- I'd allow at least five nights here
Muang Ngoi -- one or two nights so Mum can say she's roughed it
Vang Vieng -- two nights max
Vientiane -- two or maybe three nights, then fly to Pakse
Pakse -- one night
Bolavan Plateau for one night then back to Pakse
Champassak -- one night, maybe two
Don Khon and Don Dhet for four or five nights, with a large chunk spent at Salaphae -- one of my fave places in Laos -- I guarantee your Mum will love it ;-)
Hope that helps!
