Has anyone got any accommodation recommendations in Kasi, north of Vang Vieng? We're travelling by bike so it doesn't have to be 'mainstream' access. Also, not much listed in guidebooks for Phonsavan or Phou Khoun (along the road to Sam Neua. Any recommendations gratefully received!
Kasi has a few guesthouses, Google 'Kasi' & 'Kasy' & you'll find trip reports from other cyclists on sites like crazyguyonabike.
Between Kasi & Phou Khoun, there's Bor Nam On (not sure of spelling) bungalows (look nice from the outside, saw it from the bus) right beside HWY 13. Think locals refer it to the place with a hot spring.
Phou Khoun - recommend Xaiphavong GH right at the junction, just stayed there a month ago. Newest-looking signboard out front, ground floor restaurant, clean rooms & bedding upstairs, clean shared bathrooms with cold water scoop+pail 'shower'. Think they're used to cyclists (the overwhelming majority of foreigners who overnight in Phou Khoun), allowed a guest to park his bicycle indoors in their restaurant at night.
