Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions on our Laos itinerery, we have around 3 weeks to do the northern part of the country, So far we have planned to do the following:
We will cross the border with Vietnam through Tay Trang and on via bus to Muang Khua. Then on to Luang Nam Tha via Udomaxi. Next stop is Huay Xai but not sure if there are busses from Luang Nam Tha. We will then take a boat down the Mekong to Luang Prabang and hope to see Hongsa and Pak Ou on the way. From Luang Prabang to Phonsavan and then continuing south to end in Vietiane visiting Phu Khao Khuay on the way.
Any thoughts on how feasible this is and if we are missing anything unmissable would be hugely appreciated

Certainly doable. Yes there is public transport from Luang Nam Tha to Huay Xai.
Minor point, but Pak Ou is best visited from Luang Prabang on a day trip rather than on the way on the slow boat.
