Hi there
can you pls post some recent prices for purchases in LP (except for accomodation, as it is well covered in other posts).
For example, how much for:
a local guide for the day
day trip to ... the waterfall, the elephant camp, the caves
a city" tour
a coffee
a beer
meals generally
bkie hire
you get the idea
also, pls post any comments on whether prices vary much depending on the time of year.
thanks

You also posted this on TA. I will give you the answer I posted there:
Depends where you buy them. There is a big diffeence between buying things in a 4/5 star hotel and a beer bar or mini mart. $5.00 at Laos Plaza for a small beer down to 10-14 thousand kip at a bar beer for a large beer Laos.
Same with coffee - big difference if you buy it at Joma or at a local lao noodle soup shop. In all of the above mentioned places you pay the same as Laos people. From 6000 kip to 20,000 kip. ($1.00 = 8468 kip on today's exchange rate.)
Meals - what do you mean? A main course, a 3 course meal? Noodle soup costs from 6000kip. A beautifully prepared main course at a swish restaurant can cost up to $15.00 US
