Hi All,
Can anybody confirm if Lao Airlines actually fly from Luang Prabang to Pakxe.

have you checked on the lao airways website recently? you'll find info on the routes, times, etc. in any case, as far as i can tell, yes, they do fly to pakxe (and from there on to siem reap and angkor wat if you are interested), but you'll definitely need to change planes and possibly even overnight in vientiane. regards.

But thats where it gets confusing..............
According to this site---> http://www.laoairlines.com/schedule.htm, there's a flight that goes direct from LPQ to PKZ at 11:20hrs on Mondays and Thursdays.
BUT according to this site---> http://www.laos-airlines.com/index.asp there's no such flight.
I've just noticed though that the schedule on the first website is for Oct 2006 to March 2007 but only for March/October 2006 for the latter.
It sure looks like the same Airline on both sites.

my apologies. i see exactly the flight you mention direct from Luang Prabang to Pakxe on Mon and Thurs. it looks like this flight continues on to Siem Reap.
i suppose that even if this direct flight doesn't go, you could catch any of the daily flights from Luang Prabang to Vientiane, overnight, then catch the daily (and early) flight from Vientiane to Pakxe.
good luck. i'd be interested to learn if you were able to fly directly or had to stopover in VTE. regards.

The latter site : http://www.laos-airlines.com/index.asp is for a travel agent based in France, it is not the official site. The official site is the first URL; http://www.laoairlines.com

I've also put this question on 'Thorn Tree' and apparently it's going to be a new addition to Laos Airlines routes.
I'm not over there till next March so I hope it's all sorted by then ;)
