Disregard the post above. . . . I would like to fly from Pakse to Hanoi. . . . hopefully this can be done in a day. I assume that I'll need to connect in Vientiane.
Unfortunately the Lao Airlines website has been less than helpful. . . . I have not been able to book any flights on it. Every time I try it just sends me back to its home page.
Can I just show up in Pakse the day before and purchase a ticket?
Are their any alternatives to getting to Hanoi?
Any suggestions?

Are you using Firefox? Use IE and you will have no problems.

On my computer, I have Firefox, IE8, Opera, and Netscape. I have tried to book Laos Airlines on each of these browsers.
I've found it is not possible.
You may be lucky with an earlier version of IE, but...
Three different options appear before you.
1/.
Use a Vietnam Airlines agency to book the flights (as they do the Vientiane - HaNoi leg), or
2/.
Use a (good) travel agency in your locality to book for you, or
3/.
Try http://www.amadeus.net (Somtam has suggested this).
Cheers

The Amadeus site mentioned above is only useful for checking schedules -- I don't think you can book through it -- though I've not taken a close look.
At least in IE8 the Lao Airlines site doesn't work for bookings - certainly doesn't in Firefox.
There is an email address for them though at the top of the page, so perhaps contact them directly: reservations@laoairlines.com

That is wierd Bruce and Somtam. I have a PC and a laptop. The laptop has IE7 and the PC IE8. After reading your posts this morning, I tried making a booking and was able to get to the final stage on both machines. Have you tried clearing your cache?
Using their email address amy or amy not work. I have sometimes had them answer a query and other times not.
There are Vientiane to Pakse flights, but be aware that the Pakse airport is currently closed for renovations in preparation for the SEA Games. I heard 1 week originally but the latest news is till August apparently.
