Can anyone tell me whether the road between Vientiane and Luang Prabang is still considered dangerous (as per Lonely Planet)? Thanks S

Posted from within Vietnam.
It is largely considered safe - the banditry and attacks that took place in the '90s and early 2000's appear to be a thing of the past. The buses still do occasionally carry an armed guard
