We're planning a trip to Luang Prabang in November with our daughters, ages 3 and 6. We'd like to do some volunteer work or take supplies to an orphanage, school, or children's service organization while there. Can anybody point us in the right direction?
Thanks!

Hi Asiawithkids,
Welcome to Travelfish!
I'm not sure of an answer for this and have emailed our Luang Prabang researcher to see if they can shed some light on it -- I'll post more information when I receive it.

Well, I've been told that both the cafe/restaurants Tamnak Lao and Tamarind: A Taste of Laos are good places to stop by to ask after opportunities to help out. Accoridng to Tamarind, there isn't really much in the way of short-term volunteering opportunities, but you never know what possibilities may pop up once you're there.
Sorry can't get more exact info at this stage!

Hey Asiawithkids,
Will you be passing through Vang Vieng on your travels? The Organic Cafe there has a flyer on the wall advertising short-term drop-in volunteer options working at the organic farm or teaching english at a local school across from the farm. Perhaps that will work for you. Cheers.
