I run a small ecolodge resort called Rivertime Ecolodge in a riverside forest only 30 km, or a 40-minute drive, from Vientiane. We have both private lodges and dormitories available. We offer a true taste of real rural Lao life and also offer boat trips, village & local school tours, free bicycles, wi-fi internet, temple meditation experiences, tubing, Lao cooking classes, a kayak, massage, a floating restaurant, a floating swimming pool and anything else we can manage! You can find out more at our website www.rivertimelaos.com.

We visited this place in January 2009 and really enjoyed it! The 3 bed dormitory was a huge, with a huge balcony /terrace and lovely view. Outside bathroom was perfectly sufficient for our needs. Bring a flashlight though....Their boattrip was amazing,The boat was actually a raft, had a straw roof and lots of space to stretch out and chill after grazing thru the adventurous choices at the beautiful floating restaurants in Tha Ngon.
Quite an easy motorcycle ride from Vientiane.
