Kota Bharu is a small town but a lot of people there. im still at Myplace Guest House near by mcdonalds central of town. The are new opened in April 2010 with the local kota bharu man. The place really clean and lot of information for those people want to go to Perhentian Island and Thailand, and dont forget, there are free breakfast there.

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't been to Kota Bahru for about 2 years, but I remember the budget accommodation being pretty bad -- especially the places by the bus station. Do they have a website?

Can you give a bit more info. Telefon number? Cost? Aircon with built in toilets?
I will be riding up with a small group of motorcyclists next week. It could be an option.

idreamofdurian : Myplace Guest House is new and opened around April 2010 i think. u can try serach "MyPlace Guest House" at facebook if u have fb account. There are picture there.
AbgAcid : there are no aircond in Myplace. All fan there and the cost around RM25-40 a night. but there very clean place. and have free breakfast. there have shower in the room. Phone and adress (+6010 919 9505 2984-F, 1st Floor, Jalan Parit Dalam, Blok C 15100 Kota Bharu, Malaysia.)

that guest house is really new and opened at April 2010. i think the owner not put in the internet yet, but you still search them at facebook or google "myplace guest house kota bharu". there are many picture of myplace guest house at facebook. cheers
