Hey,
We are in KK atm and we would like to head to KK national park tomorrow but we are getting conflicting information about how to get their by bus we have been told that we can go to the long distance bus station in KK and hop on a minibus to Ranua and stop at the national park but the mini bus will only leave when it's full so no way to know what time or we can go to the big bus station out of town and take an express bus to the national park but it is a pain to get there.
Is it easy to just get the mini bus from the station in KK or should we make our way to the long distance bus station out of town?
Also is anyone aware of the cost and the times this bus may depart?
On a side note anyone have any recommendations where to stay near the national park or Poring?
Short notice but hopefully someone can help/
thank you

Sorry if I'm too late...
We were advised to walk to the bus stop (more a car park!) on JL Padang to pick up a bus to the national park but there were only minivans and, being large with big rucksacks, we really didn't want to get a minivan. It did look like they were just leaving when full but there were a fair few people around. So we ended up paying 15RM to go to the Express Bus station to find that buses only ran until around 2pm (it was around 3pm when we arrived) and then in the evening. So we got tickets for the 6pm and hung around at the bus station. The big bus took about 1.5 hours.
So in direct answer to your questions:
Looked easy enough to get a minibus - don't know the times but they were certainly running when we were there at around 2pm
If you get a big bus from the main station go in the morning or early evening
Afraid I didn't make a note of the cost
We stayed at Strawberry Garden Hotel, about 4kms from the entrance to the national park. Our room (last October) was 70RM a night, with TV, en suite, balcony and breakfast. They gave us a lift to the park in the morning for 10RM and we picked up a taxi back the next day no problem. They had a basic restaurant there with decent food - there was nowhere else around to eat.
