I will be travelling from Surat Thani down to Butterworth on the train in a few days; I am looking to head straight to the Cameron Highlands, ideally in one go. All the websites I have checked reference Penang to Tanah Rata, but some use 'Penang' and 'Butterworth' interchangeably, so I would like to know if there is a bus direct from Butterworth to Tanah Rata or whether I'd have to get the ferry over to Penang first?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
