Hi all,
I hope someone can help!
My sister and I are travelling for a couple of weeks in S.E.Asia (first timers) end of March/beg of April.
We're flying in and out of Singapore spending:
3 nights Singapore
2 nights Malacca
Then we arent sure what to do in the middle but know we want to end up in Langkawi for a few days. We were thinking of going to the Cameron Highlands but had a hard time working the logistics of getting from Cameron Highlands to Langkawi. We're now thinking of going to Penang after Malacca and staying for a couple of nights before heading to Langkawi via Ferry.
We're both in our mid 20's' we're not massive night life people just interested in food, culture, interesting places etc (just to give abit of background).
Would we be missing out if we didnt go to Cameron Highlands or perhaps Taman Negara and just stuck to the cities/beaches?
Hi sookie,
Perhaps you may skip Penang , stay longer at Melaka. Its has fascinating palces to visit, all within short distances. Food wise, ther are variety to chose and try, maybe as good as what Penang can offer in terms of food. But it is much less buzy and has the old historical culture aura.
If you skipped Penang, then you can spend some time at taman Negara, Lush tropical forest, trekking, tubing, boat ride upstream, nite safri ride and other jungle activities.

Hi AA,
Thanks for your response. Taman Negara sounds lovely - but is it easy to get to Langkawi from there? We were going to go to Penang partly because we noticed we could get a ferry across to Langkawi. We're very excited about Melaka - we read the night market is supposed to be great. Will look into Taman Negara, thanks
When you're planning remember that the Melaka night market (Jonker Street Market) is *only* Friday night.
Cameron Highlands and Taman Negara are both lovely places, but you'll have to do a little back-tracking to get back to the coast to get to Penang .
From Cameron Highlands, you'd catch a bus to Ipoh and then change buses for Penang (pretty easy).
From Taman Negara, you'd leave the park to the town of Temerloh, then go to Kuala Lumpur, then get a bus to Penang (more transferring, longer distances).
