KL - beaches / islands / sunshine and social??

    I am thinking of flying from Siem Reap to KL an i will then have 9 days till I have to fly back to Bangkok for my return flight to London.

    Any suggestions as to where to go from KL? I am travelling solo and will be looking for social places with beach time..

    Langkawi is a popular destination that I'll be checking out for the beaches this February, very developed but also very social and sunshine. I've heard Penang is fun but that the water isn't very nice - so that is why I've taken a pass.
