me and my brother will be attending the january full moon party which is the 26th...but we have flights booked from singapore to australia on the 6th february...this only leaves us 10/11 days to get from koh phagnan to singapore...is this enough time and which options of transport do we have? i would rather travel on land rather than get a domestic flight if possible
any advise appreciated

Hi daniellegee,
10 days should be ok. Suggest take a train from Surat Thani (Phun Phin) Station to Butterworth, and spend few nights at Penang . You will like Penang for its variety of food and cultures. Also a bit of nightlife there.
After Penang yaou may want to see Kuala Lumpur. Easy to get coaches from Butterworth, a 3.5 hour journey.
After few night at KL , take a bus trip to Melaka, Malaysia's hisotrical town. Nice little town with a lot of backpackers accomodations. From Melaka, there is a direct coach services to Singapore. Piece of cake.
Enjoy your holidays in Malaysia

as above-you can also do the whole trip by train, if youre so inclined.
ANY decent guidebook has the details-so I find it a bit copycat.
But the shortest time needed is by bus and goes like: daytime to HaadYai-overnight bus to JB/SIN from there-so it can be done in 24 hrs. Which leaves plenty of time for stops on the way.

Train would take lots of time tho, there are flights from Surat to Penang by Air Asia or other carriers, I think you can even fly to Singapore but it will cost more because the only flight is provided by Thai Airway. You can even take bus from Surat to Phuket then take flight, they have int. airport there. In my opinion, it takes less time and more convenient...you can take 2 days maximum in Singapore, city is rather small and they have train and subway to go pretty much everywhere in city. Then 2-3 days in Kuala Lumpur, you can also take bus to Melaka...heritage city closes by KL or even Genting Highlands (lots of casinos and entertainment complexes)
