Hi to all,
I am looking to spend 5-6 days with my wife around Xmas/NY in one of the high end resorts in Philippines for relaxation after a few weeks of running around other parts of SEAsia. I have my eyes set on the El Nido region and specifically El Nido Miniloc a Lagen Island Resort. Has anyone been? Would you recomend it?
Can anyone propose any alternatives? I was told that Boracay could also be an option but the photos of El Nido seem to indicate that its exaclty what we would like.
Thanks,
panlou

Palawan is a good choice. Boracay Island as well. I also recommend northern Cebu (I like Malapascua) and Bohol Island (for its diverse range of eco-tourist and historical attractions).

Between Boracay and Palawan, I recommend you go to Palawan. I wish I could tell you more about Minoloc Island resort but that place is priced out of my reach.
But it looks very promising.
The most high-end resort in Palawan would probably be Amanpulo. That is where Hollywood celebs and royalty go.

Both Palawan and Boracay are beautiful place to visit, but I would suggest Boracay Island for you to enjoy your vacation. During Christmas and New Year time you would probably enjoy your stay here lot's of activities and event that you could attend to be able for you to celebrate even far away from home.

To travel all the way el-nido and stay 5 to 6 days is quite challenging. It would be better of just to fly to Boracay and spend the xmas there.
Palawan is more for the free and easy and for those whose wish to stay bit longer, thought i must admit El-Nido is still the most beautiful place to visit.
Another suggestion on Palawan would be to fly to Puerto Princesa City and take a ride up to Sabang , the famous underground river.
