Hello! I am going to Palawan this December and want to do something amazing that is close to Palawan or the Philippines for New Years Eve. We are traveling in a small group of international students, all in our 20's. Please write back about which places would be good for New Years Eve. I am thinking either Boracay or Bohol? Also has anyone been to Bohol? Are the Chocolate Hills worth the trip? Or if we should just stay in Palawan for New Years Eve?
Also if anyone has information about the best things to do in Palawan it would greatly be appreciated. Or if anyone has information on diving with dugongs in Palawan? Thank you so much!

Dear Katisita,
If you are looking for a party, than Boracay seems to be your best bet. But a lot of Filipinos will have the same idea so be prepared for higher than usual prices.
Manila and Cebu will have their fireworks displays and parties too! The SM Mall of Asia probably having the best fireworks since they can anchor barges in the bay. It won't be just the malls, a lot of Filipinos use fireworks.

If you are looking for a more sedate New Year, stay put in Palawan.
Palawan is one of the most beautiful spots in the Philippines. If you want to chill in idyllic, unspoiled surroundings just go and stay put in Busuanga. I'm rather blase from all the noise and soot of the fireworks. If it weren't for family reunions, I'd rather be in Palawan.
Bohol has its charms (my mom likes Bohol). It has old historical churches and landmarks. See this site and see if you find something interesting.

I came across this tour group and their offer seems interesting:

(I haven't tried them out so this is not an endorsement)
