Hello,
I am travelling to Talisay for one or two nights in January 2013 and I'm struggling to find any budget back packer accommodation on line. All of the search engines only provide hotels that are out of my budget.
Is it simply the that case the lower end accommodation is not on line?
Do you think it will be easy to find accommodation upon arrival?
Is the accommodation option any better in Tagaytay?
Any advice will be very welcome.
Many thanks
Andy

The problem is that backpacking is not a big thing in the Philippines so accommodation, especially around tourist spots, can cost more.
The Taal Lake Yacht club says they have a German neighbor with rooms for rent at 1800 PHP. Maybe you can ask them for his contact info.

The municipal government has the following list:

And the Tourism officer:

Tagaytay will have a wider variety of accommodation. I haven't tried any of these places so caveat emptor.

I guess it might be possible to book a room at one of the many retreat houses run by various religious groups. Be warned that these retreat houses may have curfews.

We were in Tagaytay and Talisay last week and we ended up staying at Java Jazz Cafe in Tagaytay. It was 3.5 kms east of the rotunda and supposed to be the cheapest place to stay. They have 3 rooms with TV (local). Rooms are small but clean but it is a share bathroom that can be accessed from 2 rooms. Breakfast is included one egg omelet, 2 pandesal and brewed coffee. We paid 980 for a double but were not really satisfied, so we looked next door at Keni Po which charges 1200 for a double, much better room, ref, cable tv and swimming pool. wished we had spent the extra money to stay there. Most other places in Philippines you can find a double for around 500. Talisay also rooms were well over 1000.

I usually go for couch surfing when I am planning trip for low price. Well last month I and my wife went to Talisay in the Palazzo Pensionne. We are very comfortable with the rooms and food also is fine. As you are looking for accommodation at low price, I suggest you Cebu Guest House and Pe're Aristo Guesthouse. They are around Talisay and prices are affordable.

Hi if your looking for a budget hotels you can try the go hotels. They have hotels in Bacolod, Mandaluyong, Puerto Princessa, Tacloban and dumaguete. The place is so friendly. They are usually near Malls and airports.
