I'm heading to Singapore for the first leg of a S.E.A tour in a month. I'm going to purchase a Sony NEX-6 camera for the trip as my current DSLR will be a bit too bulky. I've been told I might as well buy the camera I want out there in Singapore instead of London. I've found a decent price for the camera online and was going to get it until i was recently told to just get it in Singapore as It will most likely cheaper be cheaper and I can claim tax back when I leave Singapore.
Thanks for any advice

Electronics prices in Singapore are generally lower than prices in other SEA countries, but I'm not sure how it compares to London's.
The following are reputable camera / electronics shops in Singapore. You can check out their prices:
http://www.reddotphoto.com.sg/priceguides/cat_viewproducts.php?catid=5.2 -- no price for Sony NEX 6, but you can compare the other models' prices
http://www.parisilk.com/enquiry.html -- price not listed on the website, but can enquire for it via a form

The NEX-6 is about SG$1400 inclusive of the GST in Singapore.

I am not sure whether Sony has an international warranty for its cameras. I also don't know if Sony UK/Europe will service units bought from outside the EU. So check that out as a small difference isn't worth the hassle of sending your camera to Singapore for service.

Yeah it will probably be cheaper, but like goon said, remember about servicing. This is a good mall to go called Funan in the city. Might be cheaper at Sim Lim but you have to be an expert at bargaining at this one -- you can get ripped off. If you have a local friend with u, then hit up this place.

Internet, I found, was the cheapest. Less b/s from the dishonest vendors which equates to less headache. You'll also save lots of time.

Singapore is a small country. But I become very astonished when I hear that electronic goods are more cheaper than others.
It is very good. I want to visit Singapore.
