Island hopping from Langkawi to Krabi/Phuket

  • berni23

There is a quite new ferry service crossing the Thai/Malay boarder from Langkawi to Ko Lipe from late Oktober until May.
It runs 3 times a week, costs 1000B! and takes 1h30min.

From there on there is a new ferry to Hat Yao Pier in Trang(twice weekly), where you have to take a short bus/taxi/bike ride to Hat Chao Mai.

After arriving there you can take a boat stopping on Ko Libong, Ko Kradan, Ko Muk and Ko Hai.

From there on there is a ferry service to Ko Lanta, where you can board the regular ferry to Ko Phi Phi, which has daily connections to Krabi and Phuket.

    Hi berni23,

We have been thiniking about doing almost exactly what you describe here, at least some of the islands.
Do you have any more information about for example what company does the ferry trip from Langkawi and from where on the island it leaves.
Also if you have names of the companies that runs the other trips you just described, could you find a timetable online and so on.
Any information like that should be really useful.

    Thanks
    Krisim

    Hi krisim

The ferry company to Lipe and Trang is http://www.tigerlinetravel.com/ but they havenīt updated their website and it is only in thai.
    The service runs as follows:
    Departure Langkawi 9.00
    (Monday - Wednesday - Saturday)
    Arrival Ko Lipe 10.00
    Price One Way 1000 Baht

    Departure Ko Lipe 9.00
    (Only Friday & Sunday)
    Arrival Trang (Hatyao Pier) 12.00
    Price One Way 850 Baht

The other ferries are rather small local companies and i couldnīt find anything on them, but the locals will happily inform you once you arrive there.

There are no banks or ATMs on Ko Lipe and the only person exchanging money is Pooh who will charge you 5%, so try get enough Baht before leaving Langkawi.

    When are you going?
