Hi all,
Bkk to Surat Thani to Phucket to Ko Yao Noi seems to be the easiest way to go. Does anyone know the distance from the Phucket bus station to Bang Rong Pier? I have heard different takes on booking in advance with a company for train tickets versus waiting and getting a ticket. Does/can anyone suggest the best way to go about booking an overnight train from Bkk to Surat Thani? Grateful for any help.

Hi Renee,
Bang Rong pier is around 30 minutes from Phuket Town bus station.
For booking train tickets, it really depends on when you're going and how flexible your travel plans are -- if you can afford spare days when trains are full etc then I'd say don't bother booking in advance from overseas, rather go to the train station once in Thailand and buy you tickets then ( a few days before your intended departure if possible).
However if you've got a pretty rigid trip-plan, then book in advance -- there's a number of Thai based travel agents that will help you in this regard -- normally for a 100-200B surcharge on the purchase.
