I'm hoping to try both Koh Samet and Koh Chang as I'm not in a huge rush (and it will be a while before I get to my next beach!) Can anyone share the most logical way of getting between the 2 on a backpacker's budget? Surely there must be a way without backtracking to Bangkok...I'm going to continue my own investigations, but just wondered if anyone could shed any light on it. Thanks!

Hi,
as i'm doing research around the same region, one source suggests that there is a minibus service running (Pattaya-)-Baan Pae (for Ko Samet) - Laem Ngop pier (for Ko Chang) at ca. 09:30 and 11:00 in the morning. Or one can go by public bus to Chantaburi and then on to Trat and on to the pier.

Absolutely no reason to backtrack to Bangkok. Any/every travel agent on Samet (or Chang) will have joint ferry/van or bus/ferry tickets from one island to the other.
