Hi Jessica,
Welcome to Travelfish!
If you're heading to the Khao San Road area, you'll have no problems finding a room -- there's over 100 guesthouses to choose from.
If you do want to book in advance, Shambara is easily the most popular-- See the Khao San Rd section for their details.

Shambara is really very, very good. Even the meals are excellent in a nice little garden, at 100 meter from Khao San Road, without the hurry.
You can book via Travelfish.

Shambara is easily bookable via walk in as well. You dont have to book in advance, but its always recommended to anyways.

At that time of year it's doubtful that you'll need to book in advance. You may want to make sure you get a room with a/c, though. It's going to be hot!
