Greetings , can someone please tell me if I can get the 30 day extension on my 60 day tourist visa in my first week in Thailand or do I have to wait to nearer the expiry date ? many thanks

you can do it whenever you're in the country. So if you just arrived with a 60 day visa, just go to immigration whenever you feel like it and extend it, no problems at all.

You should wait until the 60 days are nearly up (within about a week). If you go much sooner than that, they'll tell you to come back later. Have seen/experienced this various times before.

Hmm strange Bob, haven't had any problems with that (was 2 years ago I think), could have changed by now, don't know as I'm mostly going to another country after a month anyway or have a working visa.

Hi,
What they've said at the embassy/consulates where i got my visas from is that you should apply for an extension after the first 30 days has passed.
