Hi
I've got a miniscule 2 weeks to go travelling in April, so I figured a week in North Thailand and a week in North Laos. I'm really wanting to do a 3, 4 or 5 day trek in North Thailand. Not too fussed with elephant riding or rafting, just keen to exert myself a bit up a mountain somewhere breathtaking with a cool group of young people like me. Chiang Dao sounds like a pretty good spot, any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi hector,
Welcome to Travelfish!
Chiang Dao is indeed an excellent choice. Other good spots include Nan province -- check out our listing for Ban Toei -- we did a two day caving and walking trip from there -- it was outstanding-- very very little touristed. Also Pai and Mae Hong Son are good -- though they tend to include rafting and pachyderms...
We're also heard good reports about trekking in Phongsali (far northern Laos) though with just two weeks, you may not have time to reach there.

Many thanks, somtam2000. Will check out your suggestions. With so little time I really want to get this right, without playing it too safe. I have heard that April and May are the hottest and dryest times of year. Any tips, or just grin and bare it?
Thanks
