island hopping advice needed

  • hellokatti

    hi,

pls help us with planning our Thailand itinerary, too much information read in lonely books and forums, we are a bit confused...

we are planning to spend 3,5 weeks in Thailand in January and we would love to balance cultural and nature sights...

we've been thinking about spending some days in central or north Thailand (Chiang Mai/Kanchanaburi/Ayuthuya????) and then heading to Krabi province as the base of our island hopping part of the journey.

This is our first trip to SEA, so we d be very grateful for useful planning tips.

Which of the 3 central/north thailand destinations is a must see and is 3-5 days are enough?

Here is our very DRAFT itinerary:

    28/12-02/01 BKK
    02/01 - 05/01 Central or North Thailand
05/01 heading to Southern Andaman Coast (flight to Phuket?)
    05/01 - 17/01 island hopping
    Railay
    Ko Lanta
    Ko Muk
    Ko Kradan
    ???

    17/01 flight back to BKK
    19/01 leaving BKK

many many thanks for your help, all tips, comments are greatly appreciated!!!
