We're leaving for Thailand in a week and still trying to figure out where we want to go for our last week. We are hoping to take a trip out to the Similans (snorkeling not diving) with maybe an overnight and we also want to kayak around Ao Phang Nga.
Is it better to fly in to Krabi or Phuket? We'll be coming in from BKK and don't feel a burning desire to be in a huge party scene. Any suggestions on tour operators or places to stay? Is there anything else we should make sure to see given our timeline (flight from BKK late Saturday night, flight out of BKK to states the following Saturday mid-day). Thanks in advance!

For the Similans the best airport to fly into is Phuket . If you don't want to stay there have a look at Khao Lak. It is 1 1/2 hours North of Phuket and is actually closer to the Similans. It is much quieter and less built up than Phuket but still has plenty of options. It is also a great place to book a trip to the Similans and a kayak trip to Phang Nga Bay.
