With the travel books warning of some Samui travel agencies selling ferry/minivan services that used very poor vehicles, dangerous drivers or had baggage theft, we would prefer to take the gov't bus from Surat Thani to Krabi. Wondering how to get from the ferry pier to the bus terminal since it seems pretty far.
Or has anyone had recent experience with the travel agencies ferry/minivan/ route and could recommend one? We did that 13 yrs ago with no problems but the guide books make it sound common nowadays.
Thanks!

When you buy a ferry ticket you will also have the option of buying a bus ticket into Surat Thani town. Then head to the bus station or the mini-bus street (opposite the bus station).

Taking the gov bus is a better option. You won't ALWAYS have a problem with the private agencies but.........it is much worse than the old days as far as trustworthiness. The better deal you get the more problems abound.
