I read somewhere that it was no longer possible to get a Laos visa in Chiang Kong. Is this true? Something tells me it isn't, but I'd like to be sure as we may be heading in that direction and could be tight on time.

News to me -- as far as I'm aware 30-day visa on arrival for Laos remains available at Chiang Khong.

crossed there three days ago. Got a 30 day visa on arrival there without issue. I'm travelling on an Australian passoprt if that matters.
