Right this is the plan so far (noting Booked yet). Flight from Dublin to Bangkok via Dubai (maybe with a week stop over. Friend might be there) Once i arrive in Bangkok the plan is to take it easy, adjust for a couple of days. Then maybe travel down to Puckett and else were. Haven't really planned the whole Thailand part. Just gona see what happens. Next stage is to get a flight to Huay Xai (Laos) and slowly make my way down the Mekong river through Laos Cambodia and into Vietnam taking in the sights along the way. Then make my way to Ho Chi Minh city were I hope to buy a bike and ride up to Hanoi. And then on to Oz.
So thats the plan. I'll be going Solo so is there anyone who has done a similar trip that might have some advice. Be much appreciated. Or is there anyone else thinking of doing the same trip that would like to meet up along the way. Be great to meet up with different people.
Look Forward to hearing what you lot think

That's a lot of miles.
You didn't mention how long the trip was.
I havent been to Vietnam myself but speaking to others that have, they didnt enjoy it as much as they thought. Their photos werent inspiring and turned me off going there.
I'd just do Thai/Laos if it was me.
Sometimes less is more.

Thailand has about two dozen islands with accomodation. If you like tropical islands you could easily spend months island hopping.

How long will you traveling for?
How much time do you have in these countries?
Each countries has something to offer to the travelers, if not this, maybe that. Who know?
Laos has amazing culture
Cambodia has amazing temples
Vietnam has beautiful nature
Come to see and get to know !!!!
I am from Siem Reap city (Cambodia) if you need more help in this spot, please don't hesitate.
Enjoy your travel
First of all thanks for pointing out my useless attempt at spelling Phuket . Whats even more embarrassing.. theres a big add for Phuket at the bottom of this page .
To answer your questions I have no time restrictions and as this is a once of trip I want to see as much of south east Asia as possible.
Thanks Ben might take you up on that offer.

buy a sea guidebook. this site is pretty good but a book is always handy to read and has good maps.
but dont plan too much. when you arrive it will all be different and you'll get ideas as you go.
check out let's go, rough guide and lonely planet ones and decide which one you like the best

Thanks Krabiman, that was kinda the plan. Just go and see what happens. Looking forward to it now. Just have to book the flight to Thailand and see what happens. One other thing. What's the deal with visa's for each country. Been meaning to look it up but I'm feeling very lazy on that front.
