Hi Somtam
We're are going to do a little exploring of Nthn Malaysia. We intend to enter at Padang Besar and exit at Sungai Kolok. What spots in Thailand do you recommend for a couple of nights stay along the way, we'd like to visit Khao Sok NP and Songkla sounds great, any others? We still have over 3 weeks before returning home so maybe 7 - 10 days Thailand wouldn't mind some snorkelling if easy to get to.
This time of year is perfect on Thailand's southwest coast -- for snorkelling, look into the islands off Trang -- Ko Ngai and Ko Lipe are both great -- especially the latter.
How's it going? The Ko Lipe recommendation looks tough to beat; awesome spot and puts you right where you need to be.
One of my favorite places used to be Khao Lak in Phang Nga Province, but I haven't been back since the tsunami so I don't know just how much it has rebounded. The last time I was there we just missed out on a three-night liveaboard snorkeling trip out to the Similans. I don't know if that style trip is still available, but I've always regretted missing that chance. Cheers.
