My friend and I are 24 yo Australian girls aiming be in Koh Phangan over the xmas and new year period 2011/12. We are aware that the island will be full of people and would like to book something soon before everything is booked out! We can't afford to stay at Haad Rin at that peak period... Ideally we would like to stay in basic bungalow right on the beach and prefer not to be further away than half an hour from Haad Rin. Could anyone recommend anywhere? We are looking to spend no more than $30 per night.
Cheers,
Esmeralda and Misha

Had Yuan (the east coast one) is a real nice beach only 10 minutes by longtail from Had Rin. Lots of accommodation there - check TRAVELFISH'S reports and do a search for websites on which you can book accommodation. Of course TRAVELFISH often has links to accommodation booking on its reviews.
