Weather in Thailand/Laos in early-mid April

    Hey Guys,

    Was wondering if I could get some advice on the weather in Laos (Vientiane, Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang) and Northern Thailand ( Chiang Mai ) in early to mid April. Is the smoke from the farmers burning unbearable?
    Is it still a good time to go tubing or is the water level to low?

    Also is Chiang Mai a good place to be in for Songkran? Does everything shut for these 2 days?

    Here are a couple of links that should help with some of the above:
    Weather in Thailand in April (expect it to be similar in the parts of Laos you are asking about)
    Songkran in ChiangMai

    Water will be at its lowest ebb in April, but the tubing will still be going -- just expect some bumps along the way :)
