Hello,
I was wondering if anybody knew of the most efficient itinerary in a twenty -five day trip including to and from. It is going to go a little something like this:
Arrive Bangkok spend 2 nights
ayathura one night
(is lopburi and sukko worth seeing too?)
chiang mai three nights
(from here i'm not sure of the best choice, fly back to bangkok? - looking to head to Cambodia from here)
two nights in Siem Reap
then from here not sure, destination is Koh tao, Ko pagnan, ko samui but what is best way? back to bangkok then south?
If you are going to make the effort to go to Siem Reap , I suggest that you stay longer than 2 nights. You are only allowing yourself one full day there. Stay at least 4 nights. That will give you a day or two at the Angkor temples, another day maybe to visit some of the temples further out of town, the Landmine museum, etc, and another day to explore Siem Reap township itself.
To get from Siem Reap to southern Thailand, (assuming that you will fly), you will probably need to fly from Siem Reap -> Bkk -> (Samui or Surat Thani ). You can fly Air Asia (cheaper) to Surat Thani then catch the ferry to Samui and onward. Or you can fly Bangkok Air and fly direct from Bkk to Samui, but they are much more expensive flights.
I also think I read recently that there might be a flight from Siem Reap to Samui direct. Search around on TF or check out some of the flight search engines.
