Recommendations for single female on Koh Samui over Xmas?

I am a 40 yo single female traveler and I'll be returning to Thailand after too many years away.

Looking at the posts, it seems like much has changed in the last five years!
I will be on Koh Samui 12/22 - 12/29. Looking for recommendations on where to stay that has a bit of luxury but isn't too high end either. Want to be social but not looking for full moon parties, prefer to avoid families & honeymooners. Also considering Koh Tao...any ideas appreciated.

Was hoping to spend around USD$75. (when I budgeted my trip I thought that might get me a swanky resort but research shows I either don't know the right places or I didn't budget properly)

    thanks!

A swanky resort in Samui will cost you a lot more than $75US.

Have a look at the Bophut area. This is a newer area and I think is the best on Samui. Lamai may also work for you.
