Buying a camera in Thailand

  • jp686

I want to buy a fairly simple point and shoot digital camera for around £100 (sterling). I was planning to buy one before departing but it occurred to me that I might get more bang for my buck if I wait until I arrive in Bangkok.

Can any of you offer any advice on doing this? (Is it a good idea? Will I save money by doing this? Is there a dedicated electronics district in the city? Will I be at risk of buying a counterfeit camera? etc.).

    There is a previous thread.

    Try comparing prices here.

But if the savings are small, buy from a local dealer to avoid problems with warranty service. Few camera manufacturers offer a worldwide warranty.

Thailand is not a bargain basement for electronics including point-and-shoot digital cameras. About the same prices as the UK so buy at home as stated above, for warrantee purposes.
