Hi, Tica222. I will also be in Thailand for the first two weeks in January. I arrive on the 30th and I'm planning on spending 3 to 5 days in Bangkok and having a good look around. I'm then hoping to head up north and explore Laos and Cambodia. Where are you thinking of heading?

If you arrive in a place such as Chiang Mai there will be a million other people trekking. I wouldnt worry too much about finding someone before hand.

Stay in Khaosan Road, Bangkok, you'll meet plenty.
