When I was in Vietnam, twice, I was able use a local tourist service to see the sights. They set me up with buses planes and trains and group tours. Are there trustworthy agencies in Bangkok that could set up similar scenarios, if so please let me know their names.

All I am going to say is be careful. Follow your gut as there are alot of scamming travel agencies within Thailand, the capital especially. My personal option is getting a motorbike or doing the sights as the locals would.
